HOME: ABOUT WILL BOLING

Will Boling | Play-by-Play Broadcaster | Digital Content Producer, 104-5 The Zone

For the past ten years, I’ve worked as a play-by-play broadcaster and multimedia journalist covering football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, and professional/college/high school track-and-field.

In 2021 I continued my work at 104-5 The Zone managing digital content but started new roles – broadcasting Tennessee athletics on SEC Network+ and The American Track League on ESPN.

That also included Shane Streich’s American Record for 1,000 meters to begin the 2022 season indoors in Louisville.

And in 2022…an opportunity to call Nashville Soccer Club in brand new Geodis Park.

I started working as a broadcaster when I was a sophomore in high school. Beginning in Middle Tennessee as a commentator for Brentwood Academy football, I found a love for play-by-play at a young age. In 2018, I worked as the assistant broadcaster for the Tennessee Smokies (AA-Chicago Cubs).

Last fall, I finished my ninth season broadcasting high school football in Tennessee on 104-5 The Zone.

In June 2019, I began working at 104.5 The Zone (WGFX-FM — Nashville) as a digital producer covering all things sports in the Music City. That position became a full-time role in February 2021, allowing me to lead WGFX-FM’s digital content and host some new, exciting shows.

I contribute to the TSSAA Network on the radio for the state football championships and state basketball tournament.

I have previous experience as a weekly radio guest on 104.5 The Zone. In my time on The Zone in fall of 2017, I discussed University of Tennessee football on Wednesday nights. In addition to those weekly spots, I covered Tennessee Volunteer athletics for Rocky Top Insider.

In the spring of 2017, I was hired as the public address announcer for University of Tennessee Track and Field. In my time as the voice of Tom Black Track, I have called multiple world leading times, run by the likes of World Champions Christian Coleman, Justin Gatlin and Sydney McLaughlin. I announced my second SEC Track and Field Championships as a stadium announcer in May 2018.

Will-Boling.com features samples of my work over the past six years as a freelance broadcaster. The past six years have included coverage of Olympic track athletes at the 2018 Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville. It also features coverage of University of Tennessee football during a turbulent 2017 season. And it also includes one season covering the Tennessee Smokies.
